The Seven Types of Rest

Module 6 of 7 · 4 min

Social rest

Not all company drains and not all solitude restores. Social rest is about the balance between relationships that take from you and relationships that give something back.

Draining is not the same as difficult. Some hard conversations leave you steadier. Some easy, pleasant interactions leave you hollow because you did all the maintaining.

If your instinct after a long week is to see nobody at all, look closer. Sometimes what you need is not isolation but different people — the ones where you can sit in silence without it needing to be filled.

Today: name two people who leave you fuller and one interaction pattern that consistently drains you. Change the ratio this week by one contact.
